Over $4 billion has been invested in Adelaide’s clinical and research infrastructure in the last 10 years, dedicated to major hospital, university and research capital projects that have delivered state-of-the-art facilities to support discovery, innovation, clinical development and service delivery.
Our healthtech companies span medical devices, therapeutics, biotech and digital health. From startups and scaleups to contract development and manufacturing organisations (CDMOs) and contract research organisations (CROs), we are a connected ecosystem with global partners and customers. Adelaide is home to Australia’s only operational mRNA manufacturing facility and is the headquarters for some of Australia’s largest clinical trials CROs and bioanalytical services.
Our universities and institutes employ more than 4,000 researchers and we continue to strengthen our workforce each year through 1,000 PhD completions. We have built critical mass in areas such as cancer and survivorship, precision medicine, reproductive health, nuclear medicine, ageing, nutrition and pharmaceutical innovation.
