MTPConnect will deliver a new initiative, The Adelaide Life Science Gateway program.
MTPConnect’s three-year Gateway program is designed to position Adelaide as a global hub for medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation and help to accelerate economic activity in the City of Adelaide.
The focus of this multi-faceted program will be on showcasing Adelaide’s life science capabilities, facilitating international engagement, attracting life science investors, and promoting Adelaide’s pre-clinical and clinical trials ecosystem.
Through targeted initiatives like investor education programs and strategic networking, we are upskilling investors in the complexities of life sciences and fostering deeper engagement with innovative local companies. This integrated approach aims to strengthen South Australia’s investment pipeline, accelerates commercialisation, and reinforces our position as a leader in clinical research and medical innovation.
The program will include in-person professional development and networking events, tours, in-bound and outbound activities.
The evolving program aims to create compelling opportunities for global investors and industry partners, to explore Adelaide’s ecosystem, navigate the capabilities, and capitalise on the opportunities.
The program is made possible via a Strategic Partnerships Program grant from the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA).
The Gateway program will be led by MTPConnect’s Director, Dana Bell.

MTPConnect SA will be delivering a program called Demystifying Life Sciences Investment, with the aim of equipping local and international investors with the knowledge and confidence to engage in South Australia’s thriving medical technologies and pharmaceuticals (MTP) sector.
The tailored Investor Series will deliver a comprehensive curriculum designed for time-conscious angel investors, high net worth individuals, and VCs seeking to understand the investment opportunities in life sciences.
The Investor Series will format will include in-person workshops, presentations, access to resources and support navigating the opportunities in the South Australian ecosystem.
The sessions will cover key areas including investment opportunities in life sciences, due diligence processes, portfolio development, syndicated investments, and collaboration with venture capital firms. By reducing barriers to entry, the program empowers a new wave of investors to make informed, strategic decisions in this complex and fast-growing sector.
In partnership with financial advisors and leading industry experts, the program aims to foster high-value connections between investors, innovative start-ups, and established companies.
