Mastering Project Management: MTPConnect Leads IDTC PhD+ Session at Agilex Biolabs

Industry Development Officer Santhni Subramaniam facilitated the Biomanufacturing Industry Doctoral Training Centre PhD+ Program  IDTC, Session 14 | Mastering Project Management which was held at Agilex Biolabs Pty Ltd.

Students Janik Seidel and Jaslene Anne Francis hosted the session and  alongside Yijia-He delivered fast-paced 3min pitch presentations updating the group on their PhD projects.

Thank you to our hosts from Agilex Biolabs Pty Ltd Project Director,  Michael Romeo and Associate Project Manager, Maisie Meadows for providing practical insights on project management in an industry environment as well as tips for the students’ PhD.

Michael provided an overview of how Agilex Biolabs service pharmaceutical and  biotechsnology companies of all sizes, with more than 100 + projects on the go helping clients to advance their clinical trials.

Maise shared how the team work through their project management (PM) style, planning a project life cycle and the role of PMs. The group took part in a few hands- on project planning exercises.

Key take away:

  •  Project Managers – focus on cross departmental alignment ( can some times feel like herding cats) and keeping stakeholders happy leads to a successful project
  • Project Managers- With the customer and scope at the centre of what they do, they decide what needs to be done and just do it !
  • Break your project down – pick apart all of the tasks, manage the risks and Hit those deliverables.
